The First Unraveling
The day eight civilizations died so that one might remember
Primordial Genesis · 1,112,345 – 1,111,100 BC"In the Elder tongue, there is no single word for 'survivor.' The closest approximation is vel'khorath—literally, 'one who carries the weight of those who fell.' To be vel'khorath is to exist in perpetual debt to the dead."

The Essential
For 137,655 years, the Dimensional Lattice held. The Nine Creators had engineered reality itself into compartments—each of the nine galactic sectors sealed from the others, each hosting one of the Original Nine species in splendid isolation. The barriers were meant to protect. Instead, they guaranteed that when protection failed, it would become annihilation.
The collapse began not with malice but with maintenance deferred, with entropy accumulated, with two technologies that should never have touched reaching across a weakened barrier. Mechanix innovation-engines and Syclynx probability-fields—neither species knew the other existed—created a feedback loop that tore the dimensional fabric like wet paper.
Eight civilizations did not fall because they were weak. They fell because they were too specialized—too perfectly adapted to environments that ceased to exist the moment the barriers failed.
The Artisanians, whose consciousness danced across dimensional frequencies, found those frequencies colliding. The luminous Seraphel, existing partially in higher-dimensional spaces, simply ceased to be as those spaces folded into nothing. Species after species—brilliant, ancient, irreplaceable—experienced contact with the radically different as existential annihilation.
Only the Elders survived. Their biology—temporal decoupling woven into every cell, prismatic skin that scattered lethal chronological radiation into harmless color—had been shaped by evolution or design for exactly this catastrophe. They watched their siblings burn. Then they inherited the ashes.
